Thoughts

While I see these trees here all the time, it wasn't until I walked up close that I discovered this nice colorful treat.

I love the scenery here in Alaska, but I wish I knew more about all these plants, birds, and insects. The more i'm out here, the more I feel like I don't know... but let's see:

My friend Anna knows each insect by name and gender, and nurtures them like a family pet.
My friend Victor could name a bird from a mile away, and is quick to take a perfect shot with his camera.
And my friend Bryan knows the complete history of every tree we come across.

So while I would still find books on these topics useful, maybe all I need are my friends.
