Remembering Dad

Dear Diary,

Today is Father's Day. Although Dad passed in 1998, he has been much on my mind recently with the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Europe by the Allied forces on June 6, 1944. Dad was part of that invasion, this photographed made just a few months before the event.

He survived the war physically but he carried the emotional scars for the rest of his life. I visited Omaha Beach in Normandy in 2012 and it was one of the most moving experiences I've ever had.

So, thank you Dad, and all the veterans, for what you did to keep us free.
