Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker
Gotcha! I took this shot through our front windows using the lens that happened to be on the camera (my "macro" lens) because he/she is usually very timid and flies off. On this occasion the bird stayed on the nut feeder for a couple of minutes and i was able to get quite a few photos.
Notice that the Juvenile can be distinguished from the adults by its red cap. The adult female has no red on its head at all, while the adult male has a red stripe down the back of its neck. Neither adult has a red cap.
Quite nice in large though a bit noisy, and I have put a similar shot here where you can see images from other blippers who have too many images to put in their folios!
