Let there be light

Today Will and I went to see the degree show a the Glasgow School of Art. We started the tour in the new Reid Building designed by American architect Steven Holl which will house the school's design department. It is a massive contemporary structure which mirrors the Macintosh building opposite. We also got a closer look at the fire damaged Mac!

The Reid Building is a great new addition to the Glasgow School of Art Campus. Once inside you are struck by the light and space. This blip is one of three 'driven voids of light' that cut through the structure acting as large light shafts and helping with natural air circulation. Their base also provides unexpected breakout spaces for relaxation and socialising.

We got to see the final degree presentations for; silversmithing, jewellery, fashion and textiles, communication design, product design, product design engineering, fine art and architecture.
