Good books are a thing of beauty and like other beautiful things you have to protect them from the weather - especially the sunshine. Books don't like sunshine. It causes them to fade and with that the price fades as well. This collection is kept in a room with no daylight and permanent blackout blinds fitted to the windows. Today is the first time in a very long time they have been exposed to daylight and then just to take this photograph. Question is, is it wrong to keep such beautiful things out of sight, where they aren't seen and aren't lifted out so you can feel the heavy quality of a good binding. Should books not be enjoyed? I often question myself over this and then I read collectors magazines and know that a mint example of these books will fetch several hundred pounds for a collector whereas a faded one will end up in a nature lovers rucsac somewhere as they explore the wonderful countryside we have to offer. I wonder what's best?
