Penguin Droppings

A Big Gulp.

This afternoon, some members of Kirkcaldy Photographic Society took a trip out from North Berwick to the Bass Rock.

Two hundred and fifty images captured but many are too blurred or out of focus as the boat tossed and rolled on the swell.

Here is one that stood out on a first viewing so this is my blip for today.

There is a HUGE colony of gannets nesting on the Bass Rock which is situated in the mouth of the Forth near North Berwick in East Lothian. The bird's species name is derived from this breeding location. It was formerly known as Sula Bassana but is now recognised as Morus bassanus.
