Off Road
There is rejoicing in the castle tonight. Our small granddaughter had a CT scan last night and was found to be clear of infection in her optic nerve and is on the mend, aided by large doses of antibiotics. A photograph of her in hospital looks as though she has gone two rounds in the ring with Joe Bugner. As my daughter said, if the staff in A&E act horrified when they see the state of your baby and whisk her away immediately, then you know you're in trouble. Fortunately a good outcome this time. Well done to Yorkhill.
The cycling group are still off road and so after meeting at Slateford, we skated our way along the Union Canal and the Water of Leith to Spylaw Park and back via Colinton to Craiglockhart to eat our sandwiches at a member's house there. Although there is a general thaw it hadn't reached the canal path and it was a case of grimly hanging on to the railings on the Slateford viaduct lest you slipped onto the ice covered canal. The steps up to the canal from Slateford and the ones up to the Water of Leith were particularly bad. However no-one embarrassed themselves by landing on their backsides.
Someone remarked that it was nice that so many people who don't generally walk turned out to see each other...... a lovely bunch of people!
This blip is taken from inside the tunnel on the Water of Leith path at Colinton.
