Modern Boathandling

Paid a visit to the Italian tug 'Carlo Magno' this morning. Three years old and compared to the 28 years of the 'Retriever', this means quite a difference. Manoeuvering is done here out of a pilot chair with all the controls, screens etc within reach. On the right side of the captain, there is another chair, this one is reserved for the engineer on duty during anchor handling or other winchoperations. On our vessel it is a little bit more basic, manoeuvring is done standing, also for the engineer and controls, meters and other equipment is from a decade that no computer screens were seen on the bridge of a ship yet. What I prefer? What do you think?
