MONOMONDAY: Through the Window
Among my many photographic fancies is the idea of "film noir", conjuring up the notion of gritty back streets and dark alleys. This is at Katoomba Railway Station and is one of the windows in the wall which separates the waiting area (for those seeking a lift to street level) and the sloped upward walkway (for fit people in a hurry). This may have been shot at about 3:00 pm on a fine, sunny, cheerful looking day but I wanted a somewhat more dangerous, downmarket feel if I could manage it. Accordingly I have tried to highlight the vandal scratches in the glass pane and blow out the light from the top of the rise. I have also thrown in a little Silver Efex grain for good measure. Hopefully, Humphrey Bogart or Jimmy Cagney will show up any minute now.
This is my participating image for the MONOMONDAY: Through the Window challenge, hosted by rainie.
