Nothing like the World Cup
This is one of those occasions where Warwick feels properly united (along with nights like Varsity). The piazza rammed with several hundreds of students for the opening England world cup match against Italy. I've said it before, I would have missed out on a lot if my degree had only been three years.
You can't see it well here (plus I took this photo well before the match started), but the rest of piazza was also loaded with people and it got even denser by the beginning of the game. Luckily, we got there for the previous Costa Rica - Uruguay match (what an upset! 3-1) and had prime spots. You can see Emma, Ali, Cat, Ben, 5seats and Jinman near the top right where we were sitting. The atmosphere made for an intense and awesome buzz, despite the 2-1 loss (predicted to be fair). What a great night!
Otherwise, it was our boy Ali's birthday today! Last minute plans worked out really well and we got a barbecue going in Jephson gardens by the river. It took an hour to cook each burger, but hey the day was ridiculously relaxed. Frisbee throwing, football and a bunch of us decided to gamble pedalos on the river. Finally!! Jenny, Ali (with his lifejacket and helmet), David Ooi, Freya and me took to the green car pedalo for slow-paced titanic scenes, bumper pedalos with the others and a big rendition of yellow submarine. Good times.
peace out
