SUNDAY AFTERNOON STROLL...
With friends we choose to begin on the Northern side of the village and enjoy fresh vistas less familiar to us.
We come to the flat area known as "Die Dorsvloer" (threshing floor) where the wheat kernels were separated from the chaff years ago. Someone has made a labyrinth and my friend remarks that in years to come the wind will blow seeds in amongst the stones, creating a circular wild garden.
Our quest is to find the bijlia cana, indigenous to this area. Tucked amongst the rocks on top of the ridge, we find many plants and their bright yellow flowers are open and all face the warm afternoon sun.
