Profusely purple

This clematis survived the turmoil of last year's extension building. Indeed the number of blooms this year has surpassed any of the previous ones. Sheer luck I feel, as I have no idea of how to look after these showy plants, beyond keeping their roots cool. Hubby and I spent an hour or so in the garden this afternoon. It was really warm, and no wind at all. It felt good, and we are beginning to get it back into the shape it was in pre-grandchildren! Our hips and knees and backs can only cope with an hour or so at a time now instead of whole day sessions though, which is no bad thing as it leaves some time to enjoy a seat on the decking admiring our handiwork!
