Foxglove
In the last of today's sunshine I examined this Foxglove and after some research, came up with a poem - with some literary imagination!
Foxglove
What secrets you hold within that beautiful shape
A haven for the bees, such lovely honey will make.
Looking closely at you, a leopard zooms large
In that great bell shape, hidden from view.
Though they say you are a foxglove,
I’ve never seen a fox wear a glove.
You are dear to me, your medicines released
Keep my heart beating, with a skip and a jump.
Sadly, you carry a deadly poison or two
With many a fatal consequence, I fear.
Have a lovely day.
