Fishermen
25.0C sunny spells and cloudy spells. Light breeze.
I took half an hour with the strimmer in the back garden this morning to shorten the patches of the lawns that had grown really long when we were on holiday. Not getting the lawns cut before we left (rain in the evenings leaving the grass too wet for an electric mower) was unfortunate. I will mow the back lawns tomorrow.
Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk before lunch to try to avoid the hottest part of the day. We walked down the field to the shore road then down to the beach. The tide was very low. As we walked along towards Westhaven we saw the creel laden blue tractor go down the beach and out to Shamara II which was sitting on the sand out towards the seaward end of the channel through the rocks. I am glad to see Shamara II is back at sea after the capsize last year. A new engine has been bought and the lobsters should have finished their moult so fishing is in full swing.
The new boat, which I must get a name for, was on the sand nearer the shore. Just as we were about to leave the beach I heard the tractor start up and slowly chug back up the sand. Ben was driving, and Tom (his dad) was riding on the back.
Later I mowed the front lawn. It took ages. Some of it was more like a field of clover than lawn. Note to self ... must mow before holidays
