What is that?

My husband has a new "pet". He is now very interested in making sourdough-bread and has this starter in a jar on the kitchen counter. It even has a name, Gunnar. Very macho, and it grows very well. I look forward to enjoy many freshly baked sourdough breads in the near future :)
