Bodie Island Light

This is the 3rd Bodie Island Light. The first succumbed to poor construction. The 2nd was blown up by retreating Confederate troops during the Civil War 2years after completion. This 3rd lighthouse has been functional since 1872, watching over the treacherous "Graveyard of the Atlantic".
