Senate

This was taken outside the House Office building where all the down and dirty business takes place. We had our guided tour of the Senate and ended the day at the spectacular Library of Congress building. It's a broiling day again, too, but so what?

We started our day at the National Art Museum and I absolutely loved it. There was a joint Degas and Mary Cassett show that I couldn't wait to see and, seriously?, it was a bit of a disappointment. Except for the amazing "Mary Cassett" series by Degas, it was a bit of a snooze. On the other hand, there was an entire wing of Thomas Seward water colors that were breathtaking. Seeing them in a book does not do them justice. I completely fell in love. We stood admiring the Van Goghs and walked through the sculpture park. I intend to go back tomorrow to view the sculpture in the east wing; the galleries are closed for repair but the main salon is open. Afterward we made a quick (but nicely cool) turn through the Air and Space museum and that was that!
