T'other side
I had a trip over the other side of the mountains today to help out a little with a lady who had lived for many years in Hong Kong. She had been there in 1946 when Dad was there and immediately knew which Commando he'd been in (45, Royal Marines). We wondered if they had ever met.
It was sunny South of the Tramuntana, but the view through these almond trees promised gloomier weather in Soller. We sometimes call them the Mountains of Mawdor as they catch the storms coming in from the sea. I love driving towards them, no matter the weather. The teeth saw into the clouds. Once I saw lightening hit the top of one of these peaks and there was an electric pink explosion. Pretty scary stuff when you're going past a petrol station. I'd love to be able to blip one of the Red Kites that swoop over here.
By the way, I saw one of these trees in blossom on Tuesday the 12th - that's more of a record to myself, so I can compare next year. Hopefully I'll get you a shot of them when they are a sea of pinky white. It's fabulous.
