Buxton
A very warm, sneezy but enjoyable walk around Buxton today, along with Martin, Eptas and Bruce but organised by Andy, here posing outside one of his posh childhood homes in the town.
Buxton is a delightful place, a stone-built spa town with some fine buildings, surrounded by spectacular hills. Highlights included:
The Pavilion Gardens
The inside of the Dome with its echo
The Pharmacist, which dispenses "foreign prescriptions;"
The Old Hall Hotel, where Mary, Queen of Scots stayed for two years;
The view from Solomon's Temple;
And the Old Clubhouse, for beers and lunch.
