A feast

On the evening of our WI (Women's Institute) birthday, everybody brings a plate of finger food and at a signal we all dive in! The variety is amazing and very tasty. Some people go to a huge amount of trouble making something with great care. It is always disappointing if one's own contribution doesn't get eaten up.
Our WI is forty-four years old and is large by WI standards, 100 members and we have a waiting list. I was the first president all those years ago when I had small children, and now it is good to see a new generation of WIs starting up all over the country. The WI in England and Wales will be celebrating its centenary next year.
Meanwhile we carry on eating at every opportunity - our summer garden party is next on the agenda.
