Midsummer Festival - The start of summer holidays
It's Midsummer Day next Saturday (it's moved to weekend and correct day is Tuesday 24th). Because of the fact that Midsummer Festival is the second largest Holiday for Finns, most people leave the big cities and head out to country side to drink and be merry and make lots of children that increase birth rate for march thus leaving Helsinki very deserted and spooky. Loads of people started their summer vacation today! Today is the classic day to do so. (Also a good time to commit burglary in the Finnish cities.)
But I love the quiet city and enjoy myself best here and not out there somewhere peeing in the bushes and getting eaten by mosquitoes. I can get eaten by the mosquitoes right here, be civil, bathe in my own sauna and sleep in the world's best bed - my own.
Seriously I love the quiet city. Too bad it's raining again. I have nothing against the country side, on the contrary, but I like visit there when not everyone else is too. And even the lakes water temperatures are record cold, so I would not be throwing my winter fur to any lake at this point of "summer"...
Notice that one of the birds is in the wrong flock?
