On the bridge at Athnamulloch, on the day of the Highland Cross charity biathlon.
Took hundreds of photos of the 720 (ish) competitors at this point, which is about mile fifteen of the approximately twenty, for the cross-country walk/run stage. The stage after that is supposed to be a thirty mile cycle, though I reckon it's about four miles shy of that. Still impressive none-the-less.
They start by Morvich on the West coast; change-over to their bicycles in Glen Affric; and cycle on roads to Beauly on the East coast - crossing the Highlands.
I've taken part on four occasions. The first as a walker (they start at 9:00 am), and the others as a runner (starting at 11:00am). My best time was 4:19:40 (h:mm:ss). I'd calculated beforehand that the best I could possibly do would be 4:20:00 - 3 hours for the run, and 1 hour 20 minutes for the bike. Obviously I was being slightly conservative. - only slightly - and things went well. Sore for days afterwards! Last took part in 2003.
No idea who this lass is. And I suspect she and her friends weren't taking part, but just out for a hill walk. It was a lovely day for both the event, and being out and about.
