C-3po and a Druid
It's a day off from training today. I went to a coach meeting yesterday and accidentally took my running kit to do the track session afterwards. It was naughty as it's meant to be a week off from training, apart from just doing a wee bit for fun! Hmmmmm, it was a mega tough session and the intention was simply to back off a little! Eh......by the 4th interval I was loving it and was running flat out! Sense prevailed though and I missed the final smash!
That said, the legs were hurting this morning suggesting that I had been silly! I am up with the lark in summer so killed a bit of time watching a few TED talks. Ok, some of these presentations are a tad rhetorical but ideas really do change lives! Uri Alon really hit the mark, reminding me of how challenging my Ph.D. was. It was a process that had me following fruitless paths, times that I despaired that I simply didn't have the foggiest about various statistical methods and perceived total lack of support from the entire rest of the world. They're common experiences, which if you learn from them can lead to a world of delightful learning. More so, his ethos of saying "yes and" rather than "no, but" opens up endless possibilities in discovering new knowledge. I wrote "yes and" on my hand.
After work, I pedalled to Unicorn as I needed some veggie essentials. As it would still be 90 mins before I got home, a flapjack and a ginger beer were called for. Sitting reading a paper on the iPad, I looked up and saw a Druid in front of C-3po.Really, I did! The evidence is here.
