Don't tell grandpa

My grandpa grew tomatoes in a greenhouse in the UK. He put hours of work into making them grow and it was always a struggle to get a decent crop. By the time I was old enough to understand, he had a good technique going and he got enough for their meals and to share.
Our daughter and I planted these tomato plants in our back garden in LA and apart from watering them daily, we haven't really out any work into them! And yet we seem to be getting a nice little crop barely two months after planting them. We've enjoyed three little ones already and have this branch nicely ripening.
If only Grandpa were here now, I think he would be pretty impressed and rather envious!
