A new tradition
I started a new tradition tonight. It will happen every Friday.
It probably sounds cheesy but I thought that this was a great way for us as a family total value each other. Every Friday night one of our family members gets to have their dinner on a big blue special plate i bought named the attitude plate, they get a wee certificate explaining why they got it and we as a family celebrate.
It could be an achievement or learnt something new, perhaps they did some amazing work or did something nice for someone. It's recognizing the little things. After we clap and cheer and congratulate they get to choose what we have for dessert after dinner. We never have dessert so this is a treat.
I want this to give the boys something to look forward to after a week at school, I want them to learn to be happy for and praise their family. I want them to strive to do good things, to do good work and be good people. I want them to learn that a good attitude in life is a great thing to have.
I know their only young now and won't necessarily get all of these things but it will happen in time. Just like when i implemented that we sit as a family to eat dinner so we can talk about things in our day, for them to have a chance to tell us things they might not otherwise, it's a time to review what happened during the day and discuss how to deal with it, where to next, what can we do for someone. It's a safe zone and it's a chance for us all to be together, it's family time.
And now they crave it. For instance tonight though Kanye is intellectually disabled he called to andre for dinner 'dadda dinna' he said, every night mar says 'let's talk about our day' so I think definitely this will be good for them.
When we presented it to Kanye he was so happy! He smiled and laughed he was excited. They were both excited about dessert that they scoffed dinner. We told Kanye we loved him and we clapped for him. They got a little ice cream ( i never give them ice cream it's along the lines of lollies and choc they just don't need it) and jelly. They were very happy little boys! !
My back is getting better slowly, I still can't lift much and it feels like I've been hit with a bat but I've been putting ice on it regularly and massaging with anti flam cream. I can't twist at all i look like a robot. I'm trying to use my abdominals when I get up from sitting or if I crouch down. I've figured out how to get up and down from the floor which is where I spent most of today taking care of harper. I can't lift him so in order to change/feed or play i have to get down to his level. Mums been here the last few days all day to help as I've been a bit immobile but I think so long as i don't think I'm all better and hurt it before it actually is healed I should be back to normal on Monday.
Harper is now walking around furniture and standing and letting go of the furniture! I'm excited and sad too it's Bittersweet. End of the baby era into the toddler years. He's also got his 5th tooth this week!
Had a mixed day yesterday Kanyes taxi driver didn't pick him up she thought he wasn't going and protocol is i let her know when he's not going to school otherwise he's going but she's had a few off that didn't let her know so miscommunication from both ends. It was awful for Kanye though we were waiting his wee hands were frozrn and he was upset, harper was crying and mar was late for school luckily mum arrives so waited with Kanye for the taxi to come get him which was a bit after 9 while I took mar to school.
Also my in laws rebuild has once again been delayed. They were meant to pour the concrete and do foundations 4 weeks ago but permit hadn't arrived in time though had been approved so that got pushed back, it was going to be done this week but they said they need a traffic plan as another pour went a bit awry in terms of space and traffic etc so it will be another 3 weeks yet!
On the upside my ovens going to get fixed as the builder who refurbished our flat found proof of purchase so it's still under warranty! Andres boss is once again pleased with his work at the lawyers firm so that's encouraging for him and his work!
