Diary of an Edinburgher

Nearly a great blip...

As we were strolling across the Meadows, from afar a little toddler came running towards us at great speed. His dad and another man with a toddler hadn’t noticed him shooting off (they were kicking a football). He was making for Archie. The toddler had a mass of black curly hair, was colourfully dressed and was carrying a Mickey Mouse soft toy. As he came nearer I readied my camera for a possible brilliant blip…

As he flopped down to pat Archie he emitted a very loud, excited SQUEAL. And kept SQUEALING with sheer delight.

And as Archie readied himself to grab the soft toy, and possibly a soft little hand, the (quite hefty) toddler knelt on Archie’s foot and Archie let out a high pitched YELP! and ran round my legs several times, winding his lead with him, trying to get away from this noisy little person who hurt him. I was effectively trapped.

By this time the two dads had arrived and aplogised, saying the toddler LOVES dogs. No harm done this time, but I don’t think it’s good for a toddler to be so unwary of dogs. Or dads to be quite so oblivious of toddlers hurtling off at high speed...

So instead of a brilliant cute blip, this is Archie running in the shade. He really must do twice mileage yardage as I do, as he runs round all the time. You should see the pair of us, trudging home, tired out, then both snoozing when we get home. Except first I did the lawns, which must be done when Archie's asleep.

Re-traced our route from yesterday, but didn't find my lost lens cap. :-(
