Here and there

Busy weekend ahead, training session with a group of parishes looking at teaching, children, families & the Old Testament and a couple of services on Sunday. So today is thinking time, preparation & making sure I have the things I think I'll need (usually too much).

There have been so many training sessions this year that it's hard to keep track of all that's gone on. For sure, people are far more gifted and qualified than they think they are. In my teaching days, at a really good school, we teachers knew that we only tapped the minutest area of children's potential even though many achieved outstanding results through rather limited and blinkered testing. So much of our training is helping people to realise how brilliant they are rather than telling them how brilliant we are. If only they knew!

Those famous words of Donald Rumsfeld come to mind, "There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know."

Oh .... I don't know!
