Iconic Film Locations

The Edinburgh International Film Festival is in full flow now with events taking place all across the city including an open air cinema on Lothian Road during the weekend. Whilst there have been other festivals in Edinburgh already this year with the Science and Imaginate Festivals being particularly big, the Film Festival heralds the start of the Festival Season with the Jazz, Fringe, International and many many more coming up over the next few months.

Blipfoto are running a competition again this year to capture images of the festivals and the first challenge is to capture a shot which incorporates the Film Festival brochure into it. I thought that there was only one way to do this and that was to find an iconic location that had been used in a film and my favourite spot is the steps famously descended by Renton and Spud in the opening scene of Trainspotting. I was trying to find some ruffian types to play the part of Ewen McGregor and Ewan Bremner's roles but it would appear that Auld Reekie has gone up in the world since Irvine Welsh wrote the book!
