Danube Blip
Today was due to be the first Danube Blip Meeting. Two months ago, brother-in (& out)-law, David and I had pencilled in today to meet at Regensburg. Somehow with all my current chaos I missed his departure from the UK. All my efforts on Wednesday to get in contact failed. He doesn't seem to have email on board and has given up his German mobile phone number he once had.
Shame. I could have taken the chance of simply driving there and hoping to find him. Chances probably not that bad if I could get there when he came on land but thereafter little chance.
So I spent the afternoon on the banks of our stream, the water will shortly be in the Danube and pass through Regensburg. Putting a message in a bottle unlikely though to serve any purpose as we have had as good as no rain for weeks and the water is only trickling by. This time last year, David's trip would not have been possible with the massive Danube floods we had then.
Have at long last got around to doing something with the horse slipway project. We need the horse trailer tomorrow so it had to be unloaded. Result was OK. Still need to do some finishing touches but think it will serve it's purpose.
Weather was great for such work - dry and cold 12°C. The "Schafskälte" (Sheep's Cold) weather I mentioned on yesterday's Blip, got to us today. I forgot to mention yesterday that while in the Beer Garden yesterday, Angie got a notification on her mobile that daughter Kate had posted a photo of her shorn sheep and 5 rubbish bin size bags full of wool. She's in Ireland luckily and not subject to our weather.
Tomorrow the temperature will double to the mid 20's so don't worry Kate, you won't need to squeeze any woolies in to the Ryanair conform size case. Just the swimsuits!
