Exploring new routes

Well, I missed the midwinter sunrise this morning, but went exploring new routes later in the day and found myself at the Tahuna Torea Reserve. Decided to investigate the low tide route out to the sand spit.... but it was not low tide enough. Never mind, off with the shoes and socks, only to find it was muddier on the other side than I had expected so I got wet anyway. But it was fine run out to the end of the spit, feeling quite exposed out in the middle of Half Moon Bay surrounded on three sides by water. Lots of bird life.
