Milestone

Walking through a forest this milestone bathing in a ray of sunlight drew my attention.

Taking a closer look I saw this text sculpted into the stone and read that this has been the private hunting ground of His Royal Highness Prince Frederik.

I'm not really good in Dutch history as I grew up in West Africa, so I did some wiki research and he turns out to be the second son of our King Willem the First and Wilhelmina van Pruisen. Born in Berlin on the 28th of feb 1797 and died in Wassenaar - where I took this photo - on the 8th of sept 1881.

Always nice to learn more on a daily base by pure curiosity :-))
