Carpatica

This tall tree lives in our front garden, just outside the spare bedroom window. It's taller than our house. We'd no idea what species it is, but we had a tree surgeon cutting back some other trees in the driveway. He identified it as a healthy Carpatica, proper name Larix decidua, and it's very rarely seen in the UK.

He was so excited, I was sure he wanted to steal it! We expected to come home the following day and find a big hole in the ground. Thankfully, it's still here :)
