Jack Frost (backblip)

No sooner had I photographed the last rose of summer than Jack Frost turned up. The many ancient iron-framed single-glazed skylight windows that gave the cottage its name were thickly encrusted with ice. We invested in an electric blanket with immediate effect.

I had not seen icy windows like these since I was a very young girl.

The weather in Glenlivet provides a wide temperature range. We had suffered plus 30 degrees C in the summer and now we were to hit minus 20 degrees C.
