In a foolish moment a while back we promised each other we'd sort through our books when the summer weather was no good for outdoor activities. Today was such a day and in another foolish moment I reminded Jan what we'd said. Off we went!
This is the room with the main bookshelves but there were two more shelves out in the hall and two more shelves just to the left of the photo. There are also a lot of books that were already in piles on the floor in different parts of the house, and then there's the red house with its own bookshelves.
All those books on the floor have come from the shelves you can see and will eventually have to go back onto those shelves. There are other books that came from there and aren't going back but they are out of the picture. Unfortunately there aren't so many of those. Our taste in books doesn't entirely coincide so there were a lot of books Jan could live without, but I wouldn't let them go, and viceversa.
Of course we could just by a couple of Kindles, spend some money on ebooks and get rid of the physical books but they really do have too much history for us to do that. We need the physical versions, and we do read a lot of them again; in a few cases again and again again.
I'm back at work tomorrow but Jan is on holiday so she'll continue with the fun.
If you want to understand how we got all these books read Jan's blip (She got in a few seconds before me! It's interesting to see a slightly different angle in our texts - I'm sure it was all my idea - I remember it well!
