Solstice Day
Headed off to Glasgow and first stop was Rouken Glen to give Breagha a run in the park. It was pretty busy and it turned out there was an Armed Forces Day going on with lots of hardware, climbing wall, old style military vehicles with old style uniforms, just like this guy. It was boiling, and Breagha had a dip in the lake to cool off before we headed off to her other grandparents to drop her off as we were heading into the city for dinner before walking to The Hydro for the Eric Clapton concert.
Nice meal in a wee traditional cafe on Argyll Street, Old Salty Mmmmmm... recommend it.
The concert went well, Paul Carrack and Andy Fairweather-Low were in the band. Paul Carrack we have seen in Perth and he has an incredible voice and seems a good guy. I like him :-)
An hour and twenty into the set and some techinical problem left Eric fuming and he turned and stomped off with the guys in the band close behind. Comes back and apologies, Paul sings a song and then they all traipse off again, lights on and that's it - over!!! People started looking at one another and saying, is that it over. The booing started. More booing and shouting. People fuming at the rudeness of walking off without a word and missing 40 more minutes of the show. We walked out to the foyer and picked up our complaint form and was amazed to see people buying the merchandise - fools!!!
I found Paul Carrack's FB page and wrote him a message asking what happened tonight, how disappointed we were, and how unprofessional Eric was. He came back to me on the journey home and we had a wee dialogue. He seemed at a loss too and seemed embarrassed, Decent guy.
EC is not my idol, but I could relate to how his fans were feeling as if Springsteen had behaved like this, I would have been devastated.
