Windy morning

A swirl of spray blows over the causeway to Goat Island at the Stornoway Coastguard Station. Although a severe gale was forecast, we did not get above force 7. Conditions out at sea were sufficiently bad to keep our ferry in port this morning - she can be made out through the spray. The MV Isle of Lewis will probably set forth this afternoon. As I type, the sun is coming out and the worst appears to be over.
