Family Fun Day

AKA 2 beaches and a dog show.

Today was another one of those days where Richard thought he had the day off yet found out at 7.20am that he would have to go to work. Fortunately it was only for 2-3 hours first thing.

After he got back we went to Braunton where The Dog's Trust were having a "Fun Day" on the recreational ground. It was stinking hot and we wandered around for a while, got Tess a temporary tattoo, watched "The Most Handsome Dog" contest, but decided to leave before "The Prettiest Bitch" contest...

Then we went to Westward Ho! Despite living only half an hour away, we never go there. With its amusement arcades, crazy golf, pebbles, shops and stuff, it's a bit bit more tiddley om pom pom than the quiet sandy beaches nearer to home. We had a weird experience in a café there, watching new customers get served before us and then waiting a long time for our own sandwiches. No one offered an explanation or apologised , we were just left sitting there for ages. Strange. It meant we had very little time left to spend on the beach and had to get home.

After a cup of tea in the garden with Gemma and Tom, then putting a chicken in the oven, it was time to take the dog out to our own beach. Tess decided it was time to swim in the sea. She didn't last long - it's still freezing.
