Rhymney

A view of the Rhymney River, as it meanders through Cardiff's Llanrumney & Rumney, & before it flows under the B4487/Newport Road at the bottom of Rumney Hill.

Since the closure of the last of the coal mines in the late 1980's, the water has become a lot cleaner & is now full of fish & insect life & supports plenty of other wildlife. The river now supports a healthy stock of grayling & natural brown trout, & a lot of work has been undertaken to remove former industrial restrictions on the river to allow the fish to gain access to its upper reaches.

(There does seem to be a lot of Rhymney/Rumneys to get your head around.)
