Born free

Continuing our weekend tradition, we popped out for brunch again this morning. This time heading to Honey's Bistro and Bakery in Encinitas (we're quickly becoming fans of this area).

As most places are at the weekend, Honey's was packed full of an eclectic mix of hipsters, parents, yoga enthusiasts and grannies.

After brunch we followed the coast down to San Diego, in the hope that the wee man would fall asleep for the 1-2 hour coastal journey. Despite his eyes looking heavy, we made it all the way to Coronado, then the Gas Lamp district, then the marina and finally back up to La Jolla before he finally slept.

We had planned to get out of the car more but the wee man was just so close to sleeping that we didn't want to disturb him. Ah well, at least we did a good spot of exploring. We've certainly identified a few places to return to in the coming weeks.

On the way back we stocked up with delicious treats from Whole Foods before finally letting the wee man loose in the pool.

My colleague Alex will be arriving tonight so with a little luck we'll be able to enjoy a beer by the pool before resting for another early start.
