Network infrastructure

After the invigilating session this morning, I was walking back to the car park when I came across these guys wiring up a fibre optic exchange on Symonds Street. It is absolutely mind boggling to think of the amount of data traffic carried by these tiny strands of glass, as compared to the old copper wires, all made possible by quantum mechanics!!
