The old and the new...

St Cuthbert's old graveyard - places I always love and will no doubt become regular "Blip Territory" for me over the coming months.

Took lots of shots, but I settled on this one, as it seemed to me I couldn't just go back another day and get this picture again, like some of the others.

This gravestone will have weathered so many snowfalls and ice storms since 1870, and most recently will have lain under snow for weeks. In the thaw the ground around it has turned to mud, but immediately the ice melts, life goes on - and goes on beautifully: that amazing acid green of the moss is so stunning.

And so the world turns...
