A blockage in the waterbutt

The water butt has slowly been emptied as I've watered plants over the past few weeks of lovely weather. Yesterday I needed to top it up from the tap, after which it seemed to be blocked. This eve I decided to squirt a high pressure hose at it to dislodge the blockage. The blockage was dislodged and then swan round and round the water butt! Said blockage turned out to be a newt! I've no idea how it got in there a it's a 5ft high barrel! But it caused much excitement in our house, and now has a temporary home in a bowl with stones/rocks in it, hidden under the currant bushes away from the beady eyes of any birds that fancy a wee treat. Calum and Duncan think it's now their pet...I suspect it won't stay put for long tho.
