Construction job..
..the day started as dismal as yesterday, when we had 16 mm of rain. Skies were grey, and the mist hung on the hills again..
I should really go weeding, but after that amount of rain, the croft will be a sticky mess. So I decided to concrete the paths in the poly-tunnel. Something I've been threatening for a while..
So first job was to dig out a bit of soil to get below the level of the bottom of the raised beds. This took longer than I expected, mainly because I cannot fit the wheelbarrow down the paths. So it was a bucket job.. Or should I say around 50 buckets!! Next was to add back some stone for foundations, around 20 buckets, and then tamp it down with an upside down fence post.
Then with A's cement mixer, mix the concrete, and carry it round in buckets. That was a bit of a design fault. Might have to get a single wheel wheelbarrow (or one of those nice little trolleys from LIDL for £1.00). Anyway, a tonne bag of ballast later, I've finished, nearly. I ran out with two side paths to complete. I'll order another bag of ballast, I'll use the rest somewhere..
And the weather cleared to hot and sunny, briefly, before the mist came back, and some more rain..
