63 million euros of damage was caused 2 weeks ago, and still the clean up goes on, we're being warned now about mice and rats making new homes in all the lovely dry wood still lying on the pavements - it'll get them out of my garden I guess! I was going to blip a car that got turned into a cabrio by the storm but then thought that people who just happen upon my blip without the backstory might think it was damaged in a life and death accident rather than 'just' a storm...
In other news, I was at the recyclinghof again today & have come to the conclusion that elderly German men are not very nice...
- was standing in the queue with my two huge sacks of garden rubbish, waiting my turn to climb up the stairs to swing it all into the very large, but also very full skip, a little old lady was trying to lift a large & heavy sack up to her son (who had got to the front of the queue and was emptying all her bags) she declared it too heavy for her to lift to shoulder height, the men in the queue (all bigger and stronger than me) ignored her, so I helped.
- when I stepped out of my place to help, an older guy jumped in front of me, taking my place...
- finally my turn and I lugged the two bags to the top of the stairs, used the rake to try to make some space for my rubbish only to have the (also old) guy in the queue behind me tip his bag into the space I'd made...they are so lucky I'm English and polite.
