St Wilfred's, Standish

Younger daughter needed a lift to pick up her prom dress, so we trekked to Standish (near Wigan). The church here is the only Grade 1 listed building in Wigan, so worth a picture. It's an iPhone shot, straightened with a new app called Skrwt, which is good for those architectural shots.

I have a Danish friend who finds the name Wilfred curious. There doesn't seem to be a Danish equivalent name, but the phrase 'hvile i fred' sounds very similar. Unfortunately, that translates to 'rest in peace'.
