34. truthful tuesday
I read this article a couple of weeks ago and it stayed with me. She makes a great point. We shouldn’t only share the glorious moments in life. Sharing the bad and the ugly along with the good will help us to realise we’re not alone. Will help us to support each other rather than compete. I’m not trying to sugar coat this 365 days of photos, and my primary aim is to improve my photography skills, not showcase my happy little life. But I should try to focus a little less on the naturally glorious and learn to take interesting photos of the everyday.
Today was a great day, but it did have a bumpy moment – so I’m using this opportunity to start a series of truthful tuesday shots. This is my version of the #sevendaysofreality proposed in the article. The challenge will be to actually take some interesting shots. Today’s shot isn’t interesting, but it offered a good chance to introduce the idea…
Robin and I had a lovely morning with Granny, and then headed out of town this afternoon to visit some friends. It was a great visit. On our way home though, as is almost always the case, I got confused and turned around and ended up having to turn around and try again. Unfortunately I didn’t see the ridiculously short bollard where I chose to turn (surely they should always be tall enough that you can see them in your mirrors???) and managed to back right into it. I’ve been driving for years and this is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. I was not a happy camper.
On the bright side, when I called Chris to tell him the bad news he was incredibly sweet about the whole thing. ‘Nevermind,’ he said, ‘these things happen and at least you guys didn’t actually hit something’. What a guy! And when he saw the car this evening he was convincing when he told me he thought the damage would have been way worse. |||
