So near, and yet so far
Jimmy Anderson is devestated after fending the penultimate ball of the second test against Sri Lanka at Headingley to the fielder at backward square. England have batted stoically all day to save the game. Sri Lanka started the day needing five English wickets to complete an historic first series win in England; and they needed all but one ball from the 90 overs available to them. Anderson and Moeen Ali batted more than 20 overs for the last wicket.
Well played Sri Lanka. And well played the English batters today. A thrilling end to a Test match.
