Little Boxes
Little boxes, not made of ticky-tacky, but handmade from exotic hardwoods and some homegrown hardwoods too. The body of the open box is Padauk with an inlaid top of Plum Pudding Wood. Its insert is Japanese Oak. The other box is also made from Padauk with a Sycamore inlay and its insert is Cedar of Lebanon. I used to love making these little cubic boxes, usually around 80mm a side, but am having problems getting the neatness in the corners that I used to find easy. I still enjoy making them for friends and I simply love the colour of Padauk.
Spent the morning emptying out drawers, taking down posters and clearing the top of my desk ready for leaving. A mighty undertaking that needed a good couple of trips to the skip. More travail tomorrow when I start on my workshop DV.
