Jurassic Coast
All the silage, hay and haylage making is now over. There are even a handful of black plastic bales in our small front paddock. This had to be mown as the grass had grown so tall, any cattle would have trodden it down and not eaten it!
Today is also T's birthday. Although he had already celebrated with friends at the weekend we thought we would take him and K out to dine. T drove us over to Lyme Regis where we enjoyed the most spectacular views of the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Bay from a fish restaurant in the upper part of the town. The evening was balmy and light, we could have been in the Mediterranean. The sea was a millpond.
In the distance the dominating cliff is Golden Cap, the highest point along the south coast standing at 627 feet, (or 191 metres if you are metric!). It gets its name from the golden greensand rock visible near the top in better light. Golden Cap is owned by the National Trust and there are footpaths to the top.
A wonderful evening with another lot of stressed out farmwork over and behind us for this year!
