Cymru Am Byth

Late last night (or should I say early this morning), T and I arrived back in North Wales. It was an unspeakable happiness to be back in Eryri / Snowdonia. The light is different here from other places. The colours are their own unique hues. This picture captures the colours of Eryri well (or at least, these are its colours when sunny. Wet days have an altogether different hue).

This is T's first visit to Wales, and so I was eager to show him all my most beloved haunts. Our first stop was Drws-y-Coed and Llyn y Dywarchen (this photo taken near the banks of Llyn y Dywarchen, which is a small lake).

Being here is like heaven to me. All my Cymraeg comes rushing back to me. I hear the Welsh lilt on every tongue. I hear the sheep and Welsh cattle and the black birds and pigeons. My eyes are filled with mountains and wild places. My heart soars up to the heights of Snowdon (the tallest mountain in England and Wales, if you didn't know).

Yes! I feel like a poet here ... singing and being sung through by the wind and smells and mountain ridge lines.
